feedback from tracey jenkins

a week before hand in i got some vital feekback from tracy jenkins. she spell checked my entire esssay and all of it was there. Except for my conclusion but there were only minor fixings needed with the essay like grammer and where to refrence my work. After my feedback i worked flat out getting the conclusion finished and finaliseing my layout for my final dissertation.

small update

progress going fine so far, i am at 7000 words now. So only a 1000 left and in that in need to write 500 words for the conclusion. Also i will need to print out my essay to check it all through. There will be changes to the layout of the essay i think and possibly even a slight title change to compensate on what my essay has focused onto. March the 4 is the hand in day, so i think i have enough time to fill in the rest of the references for my essay.

got some feedback from my tutor

got my feedback on my dissertation so far. when i handed it in i had only done 1600 words so their wasnt much to mark then. He graded is a D+ so far. He gave me some pointers and tips on how to improve my dissertation they where:

You may wish to refine your question as to period of time and location, are you looking a the use of steroids in Britain

There is a structure which relies on both primary and secondary research and has a clear progression throughout the paper, are you looking mainly at young men and gym culture as going into the world of sports may be too broad. You can mention sports but this may as way of introducing how the drugs have become popular or been developed.

There is currently very little reflection in your paper, you need to say why the steroid are used and what has happened in culture, body awareness and other factors which you feel are contributing to the facts. Try to keep a distance from the subject, do not become too biased to a particular side and present both cases. Steroids are they harmful, if not why does the government or the media portray them as such?

You need to reference all your sources and when making comments or discussing steroids state where you obtained the information. Please use the Harvard system of referencing and connect with your bibliography

There is only three weeks till the deadline and although you are working on the project you need to finish a complete draft by the end of next week and then review and refine. Please not all planning in your progress map

so i need to get my entire dissertation complete by next Thursday. so that in the 2 weeks remaining i can refine my essay and make it much better for the reader. So far ive done 3800 words so im close to half way.

had another meeting with tutor

had another meeting with my dissertation leader. He seems happy with the direction i am going in, i just need to get on and write it now so that next week when he read our first draft he can give me some vital feedback on it. The more i write then the more feedback i can get on how to improve my dissertation.

on a side note i have got the last primary source sent via email now just need my source to fill it in for me.

Planning has been set and ready

ok so over the xmas i have sorted out my planning for my entire dissertation. the chapters, what information is going into every chapter. Also i have planned my introduction now so i am ready to make a start on my project.

HMV should also have my one of dvd's in that i wanted for my secondary research. So hopefully i can pick it up soon.

my other main primary research is ready just need to arrange a date for an interview which i have asked for just waiting for him to give me a date and time.

Primary Source update

my second primary research was to send out a questionnaire to my entire college. But i have decided not to do this as it will be unreliable and i don't think that i will get any reply back.

instead ive have joined the biggest bodybuilding forums on the planet which has 2,023,270 members. i have posted on the forums asking questions related to anabolic steroids. Hopefully i will get a lot of reply's to my questions and it will be a big help in my research.
